Just some background info

Just thought I would add some background info to my blog. Holys Espace Yoga is the name of my yoga center in Versailles, France. It comes from my first name, Holly, plus in french-holistique and espace (holistic and space). Thus HOLYS ESPACE YOGA. Many of my english speakers commented that either I forgot and "l" or others that it looked like holy e space yoga. I liked all these nuances and decided to call my blog "holy space yoga". For me, everything is holy or sacred, yes everything. Life is sacred and maybe if we thought of it like that we would treat it or ourselves better. My signature, Sundaram, is my spiritual name given to me in 2001 by Swami Niranjan. It comes from the three things that are our true form satyam (truth), shivam (auspiciousness) and sundaram (beauty).

Question--do you know how to live in the moment? It's become such a saaayyying but are we beeeiiing or just doooiiing? Try to be fully tuned into what you are feeling right now. Yes, right now. Then, focus on just your breath. Breathing in, breathing out. Watch it, feel it, notice how your body moves when you breath. Feel the air as it goes in and out of your nostrils. Stop. Now just try this at different times of your day. Om shanti, Sundaram

Bringing Yoga Home

Do you remember your first yoga class? and the last one you took, maybe this week? Is there a big difference between the two? SO maybe you have learned something from those weekly classes. But is it enough to help guide you through today's ups and downs? You know that when you leave the class you are feeling pretty darn good: light, tension-free, mind clear, emotions calmed. The answer to how to prolong this is very simple. Adopt a yoga life-style. Discipline. Practice. Hey, bring your mat home--don't leave it at the yoga studio. And every morning when you wake up start your day by saying/singing/chanting God's name (Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, whatever your RELIGON, GOD is GOD) for 5 minutes, to start. Then do Suryanamaskar-Sun Salutations also for 5 minutes, then sit and practice breathing consciously in both nostrils, feeling the in breath and the out breath--5 minutes. Oh and those 15 minutes, done on a daily basis will do more for you then any once a week class. Om shanti, Sundaram.
